Every Gift Has a Beginning
Some gifts arrive with a check. Others arrive in a coffee can filled with loose change. While they may look different, they often begin in the same place—a desire to make a difference.
Recently, The Banquet received support in two very different ways. One gift was given in memory of a young man whose love for serving others lives on through the people who continue to honor him. Another came from a congregation that faithfully sets aside spare change, proving that even the smallest contributions can grow into something meaningful when a community comes together.
Neither gift was measured by its dollar amount. Instead, each represented compassion, remembrance, and a shared belief that caring for neighbors matters.
These moments happen more often than many people realize. A memorial gift, a collection jar, a child’s donation, or the change left over after a purchase all become part of something much larger than themselves. Together, they help welcome the community to gather and serve, feeding both body and spirit.
Every gift has a story. And every story becomes part of ours.
