Same Mission, Fresh New System!
Starting June 1st, the calendar has now moved to: thebanquetsf.org/volunteer-sign-up
- Once you are on the page, the first big step is choosing the date on the calendar you would like to volunteer.
- After that, you will select whether you are signing up as an Individual/Angel Volunteer (with 4 or fewer people), or as a Group (with 5 or more volunteers).
- From there, the form will guide you through:
- Entering your personal and/or group information
- The available meal shifts. (You can select prep, serve, or both, depending on what is available for that date and location)
- You will then be asked to enter how many volunteers are coming for each shift you select
- Then the rest of your contact information
There are a few extra questions near the end, including whether your group plans to donate toward the meal, support the Milk Fund, need an invoice, or is new to volunteering at The Banquet. Donations are always appreciated, but they are not required to volunteer.
We know a new system can bring new questions, and that is completely okay. We are aware of some minor glitches and working with the designer to solve those problems but overall, the heart of volunteering has not changed: you are still helping prepare and serve meals with dignity, kindness, and care.
Among many other benefits, especially in the future, the new sign-up page allows us on the back-end to solve many problems that the 3rd party site (SignUpGenius) could not and would not do for us.
New process. Same Banquet spirit. Same incredible volunteers. Same mission of feeding body and spirit. Thank you for working with us as we implement this new process.
SPECIAL NOTES:
- If you forget a REQUIRED Field, and hit submit, the form will indicate what was missed, but then browser cache will not allow you to “submit” that same page again. You will need to exit/close the page and then go back in and try again.
- Browser Cache: Stores website files and information (images, scripts, HTML) locally, allowing previously visited web pages to load faster without re-downloading them from the internet. This is also part of the information used in the initial form, so for short period you have “claimed” that information, but a resubmit does not see that and that results in an error- Computers we tell ya!
- Browser Cache is also part of the reason this form does not “retain” your information. For security purposes while we are fine-tuning, this is a measure we have in place to protect everyone.

- A confirmation email will be sent out (to the email address used when signing up) with many details (huge plus to what we didn’t have before) so if you don’t get it, be sure to check your junk or spam mail.
- Once you receive your email, you will see total number of volunteers spot. This will ADD all the total number of volunteers together. So if you list 5 for Prep and then 17 for serving, it will tell you that you have a total of 22 Volunteers. We are working to adjust this. Please bare in mind the number of people you had signed up for.
