For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in. Matthew 25:35

  The Banquet
In every feast, remember that there are two guests to be entertained. The body and the soul, and that which you give the body you will presently lose, but what you give the soul remains forever.

Serve a meal

The first step to serving a meal at The Banquet is to contact our Food Service Director to schedule a meal date. Serving dates book well in advance so click on Serve a Meal to see what is available. Serve A Meal

Serving groups are responsible for preparing, serving and providing the meal that is served. A group of 35-40 volunteers is needed to serve an evening meal and 20 volunteers to serve a breakfast. The Banquet serves between 350-450 people each evening meal. Volunteers must be 13 years old to work in the kitchen or to pour beverages. Volunteers age 10 to12 years old may wash tables and carry trays only. Children under age ten will most likely be helping to wipe tables. We ask that parents use their own discretion about whether their child will be able to stay at that task for an hour and a half.  Young children MUST be closely supervised by their parents at ALL TIMES for their personal safety.

The Banquet's Food Service Director will help you plan the menu and order the food.

Individuals can serve: If you want to help us serve a meal but are not affiliated with a group please contact Shiloh@thebanquetsf.org to schedule a time to serve. We do ask that you make a contribution toward the cost of the meal as you will be assigned with a group that is responsible for paying for that meal.

Volunteer Dress Code: Please remember our dress code for serving at The Banquet. We recommend that our volunteers wear:Jeans, capris or walking shorts, no shorter than above the knee.T-shirts with sleeves and long enough to be tucked in. Tennis shoes or closed-toe shoes  Please:  No short shorts or mini-skirts. No tank tops or midriff-bearing tops. No flip-flops or sandals. No caps while serving.

Other ways to volunteer

Our groups are from all walks of life. They come from churches, businesses, service organizations, schools, families and neighborhood friendships.

When a group is called to volunteer, they have consented to purchase food, prepare and serve the meal, and help with light clean-up. A group consists of 35-40 volunteers, but more are welcome, allowing for some to always be at the table sharing fellowship with their guests.
